Italy was such a fantastic place! The history and beauty of it is mind blowing to a small town Canadian. Some of the things we noticed in Italy:
-Italians actually do not grow the best moustaches as I once thought. Mario and Luigi are total frauds. I only saw one nice moustache the whole time and I think the guy was from France or something.
-Their food is unbelievable! You can in fact eat pizza every day and not get sick of it. We proved that. Same goes for gelato.
-Until you have been to Italy you can not understand the amount of full frontal nudity we experienced! Every city has multiple sculptures or paintings with men and women flaunting their stuff.
-The people in Northern Italy are fantastic. They go out of their way to talk to you and to help you out. In the south, at least in our experience, it seems like every time you ask someone something they get upset that they have to help you.
- I never realized how many mountains there are in Italy. I think we climbed all of them though.
-In the south, road rules are just a suggestion! You do not wait for cars to stop before crossing the road. You just go and pray that they will stop. Red lights mean be cautious apparently because they do not stop.
-In many places they have tried to hold on to the language as much as possible. I wish I had practiced speaking Italian more before leaving.
-Italians seem to work 10am-2:30pm and then close until about 7 when they reopen until midnight. It is a very confusing work schedule!
- I got to see a real live gypsy. That was awesome!
We loved Italy and we definitely recommend visiting!
